Franklin Key Club started almost eight years ago. Our first meeting was held in Mr. Curtis's room on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, where around 20 or so students gathered. These students went around and served the community like a good little Key Club, and by the official Franklin Key Club installation on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, the club had grown to 47 members in total. With the Kiwanis Club of Greater Sacramento supporting us, we received a banner, a bell, and some other necessary Key Club-related items. We were division 7 at the time, and were the bees.
Today, our meetings are now held in HK4 with our advisor Mr. To. Our division had split up due to the many schools in our division. We are now part of Division 7 South and our mascot is now the orange monsters. Our member base continues to grow to this day, and we hope to reach 250 members. All of the officers are actively involved in the club and we have been able to win quite a few awards at the District Convention, where the entire Cali-Nev-Ha District meet up. At the 2007 District Convention, Franklin won the award for being most spirited and at the 2008 District Convention, Franklin won best club attire! Fall Rally North 2008, we raised the most money for Pediatric Trauma Prevention in the entire district of Cali-Nev-Ha. At the 2009 District Convention, Franklin won numerous awards, from distinguished most improved club to distinguished district project. But no matter what changes there were, big and small, Franklin High Key Club is still dedicated to serving the community because, after all, caring is our way of life.
